Confidence; Feeling certain about the truth of something or someone. Having a firm trust in God seems like an easy concept but living it out is more tricky than one might think. When trusting in God means turning away from the life we are so used to living, struggles begin to arise. The struggle of handing over that one part of your old life that you can’t seem to let go of. Maybe you try to overcome that struggle but find yourself falling right back into it down the road.

Whatever it may be, confidence in God is crucial for true followers of Christ. The suffering and rejection Christians are promised in their lives do not drive them away from following Christ because of the confidence they have in God. The Bible is full of examples of men and women who persevered through countless suffering because the faith they had in God, the confidence they had in His power, and the trust they had in His promises. God is promising His followers eternal life in His kingdom. That should give us enough confidence to make the decision to give our life to Him, but is it enough confidence to follow the path He wants us to follow? Maybe not for some people. Depending on your faith in the Bible, we can draw confidence through the power that God displays through the Old and New Testament. That power is not dead today. Miracles from heaven are as real today as they were in the Bible times. The Holy Spirit is alive in all Christians giving us the faith and courage we need to get through tough situations. Have confidence in the Holy Spirit! You have the power of God inside of you! The holy trinity is not some made up church thing. God exists in three forms, and one of them is living inside of us. The main thing that gave me confidence was hearing God speak to me for the first time. I truly experienced God that day and words cannot describe the emotions that ran through me. I was awe-struck and changed forever. I urge every Christian to truly experience God. It will jump start the Holy Spirit inside of you that you may not have known was there. Having that intimate experience with the one true king could give a man or women the confidence to do amazing things. In most trials it is easy for Christians to have a firm trust in God, but what about the times our confidence slips and we lose sight of God? Read Mathew 14:22-33. Peter has enough confidence to step out of the boat into a raging sea. In this case Peter literally loses sight of Jesus and he begins to sink. He lost that confidence in God because of his fear of the storm. This was even after Peter witnesses Jesus feed five thousand people with only five loaves of bread and two fish. The doubt that Peter had in the power of Jesus lead to him sinking, so how can we apply this story to our lives? Never doubt the power of God. Never lose confidence in the ability of the Holy Spirit. Never let fear keep you from losing sight of Jesus. Fear and doubt can cause a Christian to slip or sink off the path that leads to the kingdom of heaven. To wrap it up, follow God’s plan for your life and know that it is His path you are on, and He will not abandon you on that path, so stay strong in faith with confidence in His never ending, almighty power.
