Jesus Defeated Death

Jesus defeated death. That one simple sentence has so much meaning and power behind it that most people can't even comprehend it fully. I will break it down so we can truly understand it.

Who was Jesus? Jesus was the son of God. He was sent to this earth as a savior and a servant. Many expected a king or great ruler that would set their people free and save them from the enemy. All they got was a humble, perfect man who had fellowship with the lowest of people. He preached and performed miracles to show the people the truth that they needed to hear. Although they needed to hear this truth, many people hated that He was threatening their normal traditions and lifestyle. God's plan for Him was starting to take place, and Jesus was beaten then nailed to a cross to be crucified. I want to remind you that even though Jesus was 100% God He was also 100% man who felt every single emotion we feel today. He devoted His love to serve others and as a result was given the worst death imaginable. That is who Jesus was, but what does it mean that He defeated death? In Romans, Paul says that the result of sin is death. Guess what? Every single human has sinned against God, which means we deserve death. People mocked Jesus on the cross saying that if He was the son of God then he would save himself from death on the cross. But He didn't. Even though Jesus never committed one sin in his life on Earth, He still died a sinners death. But why? God's love is why. Our God had so much mercy that he created a way for us to save ourselves from death itself. Jesus may have died upon that cross but the most amazing awesome thing happened three days later. Jesus rose from the grave! Death could not hold Him down. How great is that? Our savior defeated death so that we can live forever with Him. Jesus took our place on the cross. Our sins were taken away by the blood of Christ that was shed on the cross! We are free to live forever because the ultimate sacrifice by the the perfect son of God Jesus Christ our savior who is sitting on the right hand of God right now waiting for us in Heaven! Why shouldn't we take up our cross and follow Jesus? He is the reason we are alive today. Our name is written in the book of life in Heaven because after three days my savior rose from the dead and defeated death and won the ultimate victory over sin.
